Casey, a biochemistry and biotechnology student, speaks Spanish and French, is a big advocate for long-term solo travel, and has a great appreciation for an international community. She loves music and recently fell in love with Portuguese fado music. If you like Adele, but sadder, and the euphonious language that is Portuguese, you may too!!

Casey Spellman, President

Eleni is a fourth year in civil engineering. With Greek and Spanish already under her belt, she plans on learning Italian next. She can be found trying to learn salsa dancing (but should stick to Greek dancing) , or looking to try new international cuisines; she's always on the hunt for an authentic, hole-in-the-wall restaurant around Boston.

Eleni Blanas, Vice President and Treasurer

Shadia is a fourth year Health Science student, with concentrations in Global Health, Spanish, and Biology. She hopes to one day apply her language and cultural knowledge to the medical field. She enjoys skydiving and is currently working towards her scuba diving license.

Cristiano Sgarbi is a third year Behavioral Neuroscience major at NEU. Though he is an Italian instructor for NUCALLS, he is from a Brazilian family, He speaks Italian, Portuguese, and English, and is currently working on learning Mandarin and Spanish. Boston is the 8th city he's lived in and he's excited to see where else life takes him!

FACULTY ADVISOR

Dr. Cuenca has taught Spanish and Portuguese languages and literatures at several universities, where he has focused on the use of film in the language-learning classroom. His field of research lies at the intersection of literary and film theory and political philosophy, and focuses specifically on the (de-)construction of the fictions of First and Third Worlds as textual functions of mass media.
